Entravision: Rev Up, Gets $264M In Auction

The fourth quarter TV revenue grew 9% to $43.4 million, boosted by political ad dollars.

On Thursday, Entravision Communications Corp. announced that it made $264 million in the FCC’s spectrum auction.

The news was included in its fourth quarter earnings report that included television segment revenue of $43.4 million, up 9% from $39.8 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The company said the television segment revenue increase was primarily attributable to a higher political advertising revenue, which was not material in 2015, partially offset by decreases in local and national advertising revenue.

Digital segment revenue grew 6% from $6.3 million to $7 million and was primarily attributable to increases in national and local revenue.

Entravision has 54 primary television stations and is the largest affiliate group of both the Univision and UniMás television networks. Entravision also owns and operates 49 primarily Spanish-language radio stations, as well as the Entravision Audio Network and Entravision Solutions, a national spot and network sales and marketing organization representing Entravision’s owned and operated, as well as its affiliate partner, radio stations.

For the company as a whole, 4Q net revenue grew 7% to $70.2 million from $65.4 million a year ago. Fourth quarter operating expenses increased to $41.1 million, primarily attributable to expenses associated with generating increased advertising revenue and increases in salary expense, insurance expense and promotional expense.
