Azteca America Add Three Affiliates

Azteca America said today it has entered into three affiliate agreements with Entravision, the station group serving Latino audiences and communities in U.S.-Mexico border markets. As part of the agreements, KXOF Laredo, Texas (DMA 184); and KVYE Yuma, Arizona/El Centro, Calif. (DMA 167), have become Azteca affiliates.

Beginning on March 15, Entravision’s XDTV Tijuana, Mexico, will broadcast Azteca America’s programming in San Diego (DMA 28) and by July 1, Azteca will have moved to full-power XHAS Tijuana, Mexico. 

All three stations will carry Azteca America’s programming, including news, entertainment, adventure reality and sports programming. The San Diego station will produce a total of an hour-and-a-half of local news broadcasts at 5-6 p.m. and 11-11:30 p.m. These new additions expand Azteca America’s network reach to 75 cities and 20 managed stations.

“These new affiliate agreements with Entravision come on the heels of our recent addition of WGEN in Miami and further solidify our commitment to the U.S. Hispanic community,” said Martin Breidsprecher, Azteca America, chief operating officer. “These agreements represent important distribution enhancements in key markets that will impact national and local ratings.”
