DMA 6: SAN FRANCISCO

KTVU News To Expand With 11 P.M. Newscast

Effective Monday, April 17, Fox-owned KTVU San Francisco (DMA 6)will add an 11 p.m. newscast. This Sunday-Friday half-hour will follow the station’s 10 p.m. News.

In making the announcement, VP-GM Gregg Kelley said: “This expansion promises to build on the legacy of the 10 p.m. News, with the same commitment to excellence in journalism that has been a hallmark of KTVU.”

This expansion will be anchored by Frank Somerville and Julie Haener, with Sports Director Mark Ibañez and weather reporting from Chief Meteorologist Bill Martin.

This marks the first weeknight expansion of late news on the station in nearly 60 years. The 10 p.m. News debuted on March 3, 1958, the same day the station signed on the air.

With this expansion KTVU will produce 12 ½ hours of news every weekday.

Also effective April 17, the rebroadcast of KTVU’s 10 p.m. News, which currently airs on KTVU Plus at 11 p.m., will move to 11:30 p.m.
