Grear Named GM Of Nexstar’s Mobile Duo

Veteran Alabama broadcast and sales management executive Jesse Grear will oversee the station group’s CBS and CW affiliates — WKRG and WFNA — in Mobile, Ala.-Pensacola, Fla.

Nexstar Media Group today appointed Jesse Grear vice president and general manager of WKRG (CBS) and WFNA (CW) and associated digital services in Mobile, Ala.-Pensacola, Fla. (DMA 60). He assumes his new responsibilities immediately and will report to Bill Sally, Nexstar Broadcasting SVP and regional manager.

Grear has more than two decades of leadership experience, including 12 years serving local communities in Alabama markets. He brings to his new role at Nexstar expertise in local and national sales management, local programming and content, new business development and strategic planning across multiple media platforms.

Grear most recently was VP-GM of WAKA-WBMM Montgomery-Selma, Ala., with additional oversight of WNCF (ABC) under a shared services agreement.

Prior to that, he was an equity partner and manager of WNCF-WBMM Montgomery.

Formerly, Grear was at WUVG, the first all-Spanish language television station in Atlanta. Before that, he held various sales and marketing management positions at VCI, a traffic management system, Qwest Digital and Mass Media Marketing. Grear began his broadcasting career at WAGT Augusta-Aiken, Ga., as an account executive and he was later promoted to director of sales.

Grear serves on the board of directors of the Alabama Broadcasters Association.
