DMA 33: KANSAS CITY

KSHB Sports Director Frank Boal To Retire

Frank Boal, sports director at Scripps-owned NBC affiliate KSHB Kansas City (DMA 33), is stepping away from the sports desk on June 29.

He joined the KSHB sports team in September 2010. He spent the previous 28 years as sports director for WDAF Kansas City and still appears regularly on the city’s WHB-AM.

“Life is all about relationships and the relationships I’ve had with my co-workers and the wonderful people of this city means everything to me. Thank you for allowing me into your homes for all of these years. Believe me when I say I never took it for granted,” said Boal.

Boal has covered the three World Series appearances by the Kansas City Royals, Major League All Star games, Hall of Fame inductions, the Chiefs, Sporting KC, college athletics at the University of Missouri, the University of Kansas and Kansas St. University, high school sports, and even the last NBA playoff appearance by the Kansas City Kings.

Boal grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Central Catholic High School and Villanova University. He is a member of both schools’ Halls of Fame.

“We thank Frank for his years of dedication to Kansas City sports and KSHB. He has a great passion and energy which will be missed,” said Carrie Hofmann, KSHB news director.
