Morgan Murphy’s Saga Purchase Set At $70M

It’s adding KOAM Joplin, Mo.; and in Victoria, Texas, KAVU, KMOL, KXTS, KUNU and KVTX. In addition, under operating agreements, it will run KFJX Pittsburg, Kan., and KVCT Victoria.

Morgan Murphy Media is paying $70 million for the deal announced May 10 in which it’s buying six TV stations in two markets from Saga Communications. The price was disclosed in FCC documents.

The markets are Joplin, Mo.-Pittsburg, Kan. (DMA 151), where MMM is adding KOAM (CBS), and Victoria, Texas (DMA 203), where it’s getting KAVU (ABC), KMOL-LD (NBC), KXTS-LD (CBS), KUNU-LD (Univision), KVTX-LP (Telemundo) and CrossroadsToday.com.

At the same time, the licenses and other assets of KFJX (Fox), Pittsburg and KVCT (Fox), Victoria, now owned by Surtsey Media, will be acquired by subsidiaries of SagamoreHill Broadcasting, which will enter into operating agreements with subsidiaries of Morgan Murphy.
