KSNW Names Jeff Herndon Asst. News Director

Nexstar’s NBC affiliate KSNW Wichita, Kan. (DMA 66), today named Jeff Herndon assistant news director of the station’s broadcast and digital operations. His appointment is effective mid-September and he will report to Rachel Schrag Sommerfeld, the station’s news director.

In addition, beginning September 25, 2017, Herndon will serve as the weekday early-evening news anchor for the station’s 5 p.m. newscast. He will join the KSNW News anchor team of Stephanie Bergmann and Darren Dedo, who host weekday evening newscasts at 6 and 10 p.m. 

Herndon was born and raised in the Wichita suburb of Haysville and completed his undergraduate studies at Wichita State University. He started in the industry as a part-time sports photographer and then went on to serve as weekend sports anchor and reporter in Topeka, Kan., before spending 12 years at KAKE Wichita, where he anchored weeknight newscasts.

After serving as the evening news anchor at WFLD Chicago for four years, Herndon is returning home to Wichita.
