Univision Adds Justice Network In 11 Markets

The partnership will boost the diginet’s distribution coverage to more than 80 affiliates covering over 73% of U.S. households.

Univision Communications and multicast network Justice Network said today that they have partnered to bring the diginet to 11 Univision markets. The addition of Justice to Univision’s subchannels adds 25% of the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco and Miami.

The partnership will boost Justice’s distribution coverage to more than 80 affiliates covering more than 73% of U.S. households, making the crime and mystery network one of the most highly distributed diginets.

Justice Network combines crime, mystery and investigation programming and BeSafe, a first-of-its-kind societal mission to make communities safer featuring local most-wanted fugitives, missing children and safety tips, led by crime fighter John Walsh.

The societal initiative recently hit a milestone with the news that more than 100 missing children and 100 most-wanted fugitives that had been featured on the network have been returned home safe or captured.

“We are thrilled to partner with Univision, one of the nation’s strongest and well-regarded broadcasters, to bring our unique concept to these major markets,” said Barry Wallach, Justice Network head of distribution. “Univision’s commitment to providing its viewers with a diverse array of quality entertainment programming and serve its local communities made them an ideal fit for our network.”

“Broadcasting Justice Network’s quality content via our affiliate stations is not only mutually beneficial to both our companies, but also provides more compelling content for the over-the-air broadcast media consumer,” said John W. Eck, UCI’s chief local media officer.
