McMahon Tapped To Lead ABC Station Group

The digital chief of the eight-station group and one-time creative services director will take over from Rebecca Campbell, who was earlier named to an international post for the parent Walt Disney Co.

Wendy McMahon, SVP, digital, for the ABC Owned Television Station Group, is moving up to president of the eight-station group on Jan. 1, succeeding Rebecca Campbell, who earlier received a promotion of her own, to president of the Walt Disney Co. EMEA.

McMahon will report to Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Network and president, Disney/ABC Television Group.

As the digital SVP, McMahon was responsible for digital content and product/technology and audience development. She oversaw the group’s adoption of data-driven, mobile-first video strategies that “drove historical growth and market leadership in on-platform video metrics as well as social reach and engagement,” the company said.

She also led the creation of a locally branded content studio to extend the group’s content and distribution capabilities to premium partners.

Prior the digital job, which she took in June 2015, McMahon was VP or of creative services and programming at KABC Los Angeles.

Earlier in her career, she served as the director of creative services for CBS owned stations in Boston and Minneapolis.
