Ross Video Adds Acuity, Carbonite Native IP Support

Ross Video has added native IP support for Acuity, its most powerful production switcher, and Carbonite Black mid-size production switcher.

Named AcuityIP and CarboniteIP, respectively, both switchers are now able to seamlessly interface to standards-based SMPTE ST 2110 and ST 2022-6 infrastructures, making them ideal for customers planning COTS-based AIMS-compliant IP facilities.

Connectivity to COTS IP fabric is provided via standard 10GbE SFP+ interfaces with integrated discovery and registration of streams using open control protocols such as NMOS, EmBER+, and DashBoard. An optional aggregation switch can also be added to provide efficient 40GbE or 100GbE interfaces to a core or spine switch.

“Unlike competing solutions, AcuityIP and CarboniteIP require no compromise on I/O capacity, flexibility, or processing capability — retaining all the exceptional I/O processing features of their SDI family members/variants,” said Nigel Spratling, Ross director of production switchers and video servers. “In addition, users are able to mix and match IP and SDI interfaces, so each switcher may be used to connect directly to legacy SDI equipment as required, making it ideal for hybrid installations.”
