WNBC Names Amy Morris VP Of News

NBC chooses the assistant news director of WPVI Philadelphia to succeed Susan Sullivan at its flagship station.

NBC O&O WNBC New York today appointed Amy Morris vice president of news. Her first day at WNBC will be March 27. She succeeds Susan Sullivan who is joining NBC News.

As VP of news, Morris will lead all day-to-day news operations for NBC’s flagship station, including weather, investigative and consumer teams. She will also be tasked with increasing WNBC’’s newsroom collaboration with sister station WNJU (Telemundo) on joint investigative and consumer news stories.

Morris most recently was assistant news director for at ABC’s Philadelphia O&O, WPVI.

A newsroom veteran with nearly three decades of experience, Morris has held leadership roles at television stations in the Northeast and Midwest. In addition to her major market experience in Philadelphia, Morris was an executive producer at WABC New York and WLS Chicago.

She has also worked as news director for WDBJ Roanoke, Va., and as executive producer for KSTP Minneapolis.

Morris has been recognized for journalistic excellence with numerous industry honors, including regional Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Morris earned a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film from the University of Maryland in College Park.  he has also served as ethics fellow and visiting faculty for the Poynter Institute.
