Audinate, developer of the Dante media networking technology, today announced plans to support SMPTE ST-2110 in the Dante platform by the end of 2018. SMPTE ST-2110 is a new suite of standards developed by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers to support real-time media network distribution using IP networking technology. The update will include support for a number of relevant standards, including SMPTE ST-2110- 10, 2110-30, and 2059-2.

When released, the SMPTE 2110 feature will be enabled through the Dante Domain Manager software platform and firmware updates for Dante IP Core, Dante HC, Dante Brooklyn II and Dante Ultimo. These Dante technologies are featured in a wide variety of products used by the broadcast industry, and will be highlighted through Audinate’s participation in plug-fests and showcases.

Separate to today’s announcement of Dante support for SMPTE ST-2110, the company also announced the availability of Dante firmware 4.1 for the Ultimo UXT family of audio networking chipsets, which enables support for AES67.

Dante Domain Manager Platform is now commercially available through a global network of authorized resellers. Dante Domain Manager is Audinate’s new network management solution that brings enterprise-grade system administration to the AV world and makes audio networking more secure, scalable and manageable than ever before.

This technology provides AV and IT professionals with the ability to define specific AV device groupings by room, building and site, through the creation of independent Dante Domains. Each domain has multiple access levels to improve network security, and enables scalability by allowing audio routing across multiple IP subnets.

The network domain concept was first pioneered by the IT industry to differentiate and manage multiple private networks within the same infrastructure. Audinate is applying this same approach to AV, while customizing the features to the needs of AV professionals and end-users.

Dante AVIO, a family of cost-effective endpoint adapters that enable audio professionals to connect legacy analog and digital audio equipment to Dante networks. Starting with an MSRP of $129, the Dante AVIO series features six new adapters including line-in and line- out analog adapters, a bi-directional AES3/EBU adapter and a bi-directional stereo USB adapter.

Each Dante AVIO adapter acts as a completely independent Dante network device, allowing legacy gear to enjoy the benefits of networked audio. These devices can now seamlessly transmit high quality, uncompressed audio streams over long distances without the noise and ground issues common to analog connections. Dante AVIO adapters enable audio professionals to extend the value of their non-networked equipment, making it interoperable with any of the more than 1,250 Dante-enabled products on the market.
