WAOW Names Kevin Carpenter News Director

The former director of digital operations at WLS-TV Chicago is tapped by Quincy Media to lead news efforts at its ABC affiliate in Wausau-Rhinelander, Wis.

Quincy Media has appointed Kevin Carpenter news director of its ABC affiliate WAOW Wausau, Wis. (DMA 134). He will begin his new duties on Monday, Aug. 6.

He joins WAOW from WLS-TV Chicago where he has been the director of digital operations for the past 16 years. He managed and led all aspects of the station’s digital properties and staff.

Carpenter is a seasoned journalist recognized for his ability to tell great stories. He earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University before serving as a reporter at WPTZ Plattsburgh, N.Y.-Burlington, Vt., and then at WJRT Flint, Mich.

He also served as a fill-in correspondent for the Midwest Bureau of ABC News.
