WPLG Ups Layron Livingston To Weekend A.M. Co-Anchor

Berkshire Hathaway’s ABC affiliate WPLG Miami-Fort Lauderdale has promoted Layron Livingston to co-anchor of its weekend morning newscasts. He joins Neki Mohan on the anchor desk for the Saturday and Sunday newscasts that air from 5 to 8 a.m. and 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Livingston joined the station in January 2016 as a reporter and consumer advocate with his regular segment “Leave it to Layron.”

Livingston graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. It was in Austin where he was bitten by the television bug — first on campus, where he reported for the student-led, student-run television station — then as a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate in Austin. He later joined the WRC-TV Washington consumer unit, as a writer and researcher while participating in the Bill Archer Fellowship Program.

Prior to joining the WPLG news team, Livingston reported and anchored for WHIO Dayton, Ohio. His reporting on the heroin and prescription drug epidemic in southwest Ohio earned him an Emmy nomination. Before moving to Ohio, he also anchored and reported for KLTV Tyler, Texas.
