Telemundo Stations Launch ‘Enfoque’ Public Affairs In Multiple Markets

Continuing their commitment to serve their local Spanish-speaking audiences with important news around this year’s elections and create a venue to discuss critical and relevant issues for Latino communities, Telemundo stations in six markets recently launched local Enfoque public affairs programs in their markets.

Telemundo Stations’ Enfoque public affairs programs serve as opportunities for candidates vying for elected positions to connect with audiences to discuss their campaigns.

The Enfoque programs also serve as important opportunities for community organizations and leaders to discuss issues of importance to local Latino communities.

Enfoque programs launched in Phoenix (KTAZ), Philadelphia (WWSI), Tampa (WRMD), El Paso (KTDO), Denver (KDEN), and Boston (WNEU), with WSNS in Chicago premiering its monthly Enfoque on Sunday, March 15.

Details for the launches per station:

  • KTAZ and WRMD: Enfoqueairs twice a month, adding two hours of news programming per month, respectively.
  • WWSI and WNEU: Enfoqueairs weekly on Sundays, adding 30-minutes of programming each week, respectively.
  • KTDO and KDEN: Enfoqueairs monthly, adding half-hour of news programming per month, respectively.
  • WSNS: Enfoquelaunches on Sunday, March 14, and will air monthly, adding a half-hour of news programming per month.

Telemundo stations in five markets — Los Angeles (KVEA), New York (WNJU), Miami (WSCV), Dallas/Fort Worth (KXTX) and Orlando (WTMO) — currently air local Enfoque programs on a weekly basis, while KTLM McAllen, Texas, airs it the second Saturday of every month.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

At each Telemundo station, the Enfoque programs are hosted by news anchors who are actively keeping a pulse around this year’s presidential elections and candidates, as well as local races and critical community issues.

Ozzie Martinez, SVP, news, digital and standards for Telemundo Station Group: “Latinos trust their local Telemundo stations for the reliable information our stations deliver around local breaking news, real-time weather conditions/forecasting, and consumer investigations.

“By expanding our local Enfoque public affairs programming into more communities, we are doubling down on our commitment to incorporate more audiences into important electoral and policy discussions they can help to shape.

“When we first launched Enfoque in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, among other markets, we quickly saw how much this local space was needed for our communities to discuss the issues that were impacting them directly. We are very pleased to offer Enfoque in more markets and honor the trust our viewers place on our local Telemundo stations.”

Telemundo stations’ local public affairs shows expansions is part of Decision 2020, a broader multi-platform effort that encompasses Telemundo’s national and local audiences and aims to inform and empower U.S. Latinos about this year’s elections and how they can exercise their right to vote in upcoming elections.

Telemundo’s Decision 2020 also includes the unveiling of Latino vote polls. Last month, Telemundo unveiled its State of the Latino Vote in Nevada. On Tuesday, Telemundo unveiled its State of the Latino Vote in Arizona and Florida surveys, ahead of the March 17 primaries in each state.
