Tegna Verify And WUSA Launching Coronavirus Project

Tegna’s Verify team along with a medical professional has scheduled a live AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit today at 6 p.m. ET, in the r/Coronavirus subreddit, which has more than 2 million followers. This is the first time it is integrating an AMA with one of its broadcast programs.

The Q and A, WUSA Washington’s interactive news program, will drop in on the AMA two or three times during its broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. It will be checking in with the Verify team and presenting several user-submitted questions during the program.

Tegna says it is leaning heavily into user-generated content via Reddit, Zipwhip and Nextdoor to engage and interact directly with audiences to help keep them informed.

“Tegna stations and journalists now have more ways than ever to engage and interact directly with our audience,” said Adam Ostrow, chief digital officer, Tegna. “With our Facts Not Fear approach and the innovative ways we are reaching viewers across all platforms, our stations are helping ensure we continue to keep our communities safe and informed throughout the COVID-19 crisis.”
