KTRK Houston To Host Virtual Town Hall On Relationship Between Police And Communities Of Color

ABC-owed KTRK Houston (DMA 8) will present a one-hour virtual town hall on Thursday, June 4, at 7-8 p.m. to discuss the relationship between law enforcement and communities of color.

Hosted by KTRK anchors Melanie Lawson and Chauncey Glover, the town hall will address the historic tension between the police and minority groups. The special will take a closer look at police issues that have extended from the Civil Rights movement to current times where images of George Floyd’s arrest have been shared around the world.

Panelists for the town hall include:

  • Trae Tha Truth, musical rapper and local community activist.
  • Bun B, musical rapper and local community activist.
  • Gerald Horne, Moores Professorship of History, who has addressed issues of racism in a variety of relations involving labor, politics, civil rights, international relations and war.
  • William Lawson, president and founder of Outreach Strategists, also founding pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
