WBRC Birmingham Announces New Anchor Lineup

Gray Television’s Fox affiliate WBRC Birmingham, Ala. (DMA 44), today announced a new weekday anchor lineup for its evening and late newscasts, as well as the addition of a new traffic anchor on Good Day Alabama.

Toi Thornton is the newest member to join the WBRC news team as Good Day Alabama’s traffic anchor. Toi is a native of New Orleans but has been a reporter at KSAZ Mobile, Ala., for the past three years. Toi replaces Kelsey Davis who has accepted a position at a Gray Television sister station.

The new lineup follows the retirement of Janet Hall after 40 years at WBRC.

WBRC’s new anchor lineup in the weekday evenings is as follows:

  • The Four — Sarah Verser and Morgan Hightower
  • Live at 5 — Sarah Verser and Jonathan Hardison
  • 5:30m. — Jonathan Hardison and Morgan Hightower
  • 6 On Your Side — Sarah Verser and Jonathan Hardison
  • 9 p.m. — Steve Crocker and Catherine Patterson
  • 10 p.m. — Jonathan Hardison and Catherine Patterson

The new evening and late news team will debut on Sept. 11.

Correction: KSAZ is the Fox-owned station in Phoenix. The station Thornton previously worked at in Mobile is WALA.
