KVEA Los Angeles Names Carmen Márquez Weekend News Anchor

Telemundo-owned KVEA Los Angeles has appointed Carmen Márquez news anchor for the station’s weekend newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 6 PM y 11 PM and reporter for its weekday newscasts. She will make her on-air debut in late June.

Prior to joining KVEA, Márquez was an on-air contributor during Telemundo Network’s 2020 presidential election coverage where she produced stories surrounding the experience of young Latinos and immigrants in the U.S. and was a featured commentator on election night.

She began her journalism career at Radio Campesina Network in Phoenix where hosted a talk show aimed at educating and informing the Latino community in the region. Márquez storytelling has covered issues such as the separation of families at the McAllen, Texas, border, Central American migrant caravans in Tijuana and DACA student demonstrations in Washington.

She was also instrumental in the launch of the first Spanish-language newscast for the Telemundo affiliate KYMA, Yuma, Ariz.
