Leon Hendricks Promoted To Lead WEEK News

Quincy Media’s NBC affiliate WEEK Peoria, Ill., has promoted Assistant News Director Leon Hendricks to news director. He will lead WEEK news operations (and those of its Heart of Illinois ABC subchannel) effective immediately and will also be responsible for all online and digital news content.

Hendricks is a Chicago native and has lived in Central Illinois for more than 25 years. During his two-decade tenure at WEEK, he has been a news photographer, promotion producer, newscast producer, assignment manager and assistant news director.

He has been honored with multiple Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Domes, Illinois Associated Press Awards, a News Emmy and Regional Edward R Murrow honors.

Jim McKernan, WEEK VP-GM, said: “Leon is a valued member of the WEEK news team, with years of experience in our newsroom and in Peoria. That experience made him the right choice to lead our team forward as we continue to provide the best news, weather and sports coverage in Central Illinois.”

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois State University where he was involved with the school’s TV-10.
