Tom Manning Named Morning News Content Director Of WTIC-WCCT Hartford

Tegna has appointed Tom Manning morning news content director of its Hartford, Conn., duopoly of WTIC (Fox) and WCCT (CW), effective Sept. 13. Manning will be responsible for overseeing the all local Fox61 Morning News, which airs weekdays from 4 to 11a.m.

Manning is an award-winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience as a news director, producer, operations manager and photojournalist. He previously was news director at WTNH New Haven, Conn., and a photojournalist for ABC News.

Earlier in his career, Manning was WTIC’s chief photographer, operations manager and assistant news director.

“I am thrilled to have Tom join our team,” said Richard Washington III, news director of Fox61/CW20. “His experience, knowledge of Connecticut and dedication to journalism will help us continue to grow our on-air and digital offerings.”

Manning is a graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism News Management Seminar and the Poynter Institute TV Journalism and Ethics program. He was received more than 50 awards during his career, including multiple Emmys, and has also been honored as National Press Photographer Region 1 Photographer of the Year.
