KFMB San Diego Ups Marcella Lee To Anchor Desk

Tegna’s CBS affiliate KFMB San Diego, Calif., has promoted Marcella Lee to main anchor for the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.  She has been working in this role alongside anchor Carlo Cecchetto since last December, filling in for Barbara-Lee Edwards while she was on medical leave.

A Detroit native, Lee graduated from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, but took a gamble on a different career path to chase her dream. She started her career making $5 an hour as a videographer/reporter at WLNS Lansing, Mich. She then made stops at WBNS Columbus, Ohio, and KCNC Denver before moving back to Detroit to work at WDIV. From there she joined KFMB. Nearly 18 years later, Lee says she is honored and humbled to be taking on the role as main anchor.

A recipient 18 Emmy awards, Lee says she is most proud of her work on a CBS 8 and CW San Diego segment called “Fostering Hope”, in which she profiles foster children in San Diego County who need permanent homes.
