Emily Thompson Named WPBF News Director

Emily Thompson has been promoted to news director at Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WPBF West Palm Beach, Fla.

WPBF President-GM Caroline Taplett, said: “Emily has been very instrumental in making WPBF 25 our area’s No. 1 news station. Her long tenure here, relationships, and institutional knowledge of the local market makes her the perfect leader to strategically guide our news coverage, weather leadership, and digital properties well into the future.”

Thompson is WPBF’s assistant news director, where she has worked since 1998. She began her tenure as a producer, was promoted to executive producer in 2001, then named assistant news director in 2019. Prior to moving to South Florida, Thompson was a producer at WXIN Indianapolis.

Thompson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunication from Ball State University.
