Anna Alejo Returns To KCNC Denver As Executive Producer Of Community Impact

CBS-owned KCNC Denver said today that Anna Alejo is returning to the station as the executive producer of community impact. In this role, she will lead the station’s community journalism initiative — working with the news team to develop more grassroots relationships across communities and more original content at the neighborhood level.

In addition, Alejo will work closely with Director of Community and Strategic Partnerships Elaine Torres to build upon the station’s many strong community partnerships.

“Local journalism plays an important role in examining the most urgent issues across Colorado and seeking solutions,” KCNC News Director Kristine Strain said. “Anna will help our team produce content across our streaming, digital and broadcast platforms that reflect our diverse communities and lead to positive change.”

Alejo previously worked at KCNC from 1991 through 2007 as a general assignment and education reporter. After leaving, she was director of corporate communications for Western Union. She went on to become the owner of a public relations consulting practice, leading national PR strategy development and execution for diverse clients in e-commerce, innovation, financial services, marketing, ed-tech as well as the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.

She also previously served as chief communications officer for Denver Public Schools where she led communications during the first leadership transition in a decade, a national superintendent search, teacher contract negotiations and the first teacher strike in 25 years.
