WTIC Hartford To Launch Hour Newscast At 6 P.M.

Tegna Fox affiliate WTIC Hartford, Conn., announced today that it will debut a one-hour local newscast, Fox61 News at 6PM, on Monday, Oct. 10. The new broadcast will be anchored by Jenn Bernstein, Ben Goldman and chief meteorologist Rachel Frank, “providing Connecticut with its only one-hour local newscast in the time period,” according to the station.

“Our No. 1 goal is to provide the critical news and information our audience wants and needs,” said Humberto Hormaza, WTIC president and general manager. “This new hour of news content at 6 will do exactly that with all local content to help our audiences navigate their daily lives.”

“Viewers have told us they have a need for Connecticut-focused news, storytelling and weather coverage,” said WTIC News Director Richard Washington III. “We’re the only station to produce an hour of local news at 6 p.m. in our market. This additional hour ensures we have time for more in-depth stories, breaking news and weather reporting that is so important to our viewers.”

Fox61 News at 6PM will be part of the 10 ½ hours of live local news programming produced every weekday by the WTIC news team.
