CBS O&Os Appoint Syndication Buyer

He is John Budkins, who has worked for the past seven years on the other end of the syndication business as CBS Television Distribution's VP of sales for the Northeast region. He assumes his new role on Dec. 13.

John Budkins has been named VP, programming and scheduling, for the CBS Television Stations group, it was announced Tuesday by Peter Dunn, president of the division.

Budkins, who has spent the past seven years with CBS Television Distribution as VP and sales for the Northeast region, will work with the group’s 28 stations in acquiring and renewing syndicated programming.

Budkins will assume his new role on Dec. 13.

“John Budkins has earned a well-deserved reputation as a syndication executive who really understands the local stations business and the importance of negotiating deals that make sense for both stations and program suppliers,” Dunn said in a statement.

Prior to joining CBS Television Distribution in 2003, Budkins spent two-and-a-half years with NBC Enterprises as VP of Eastern sales. Before that, he was director of sales and marketing for Hearst-Argyle Television Productions for two years prior to the company’s merger with NBC Enterprises in 2000.

Following his graduation from Central Connecticut State University, Budkins began his career with LBS Communications, where he worked on the launch of Baywatch into domestic and international syndication in 1991.
