WFRV-WJMN’s Perry Kidder Calling It Quits

The longtime GM of the CBS affiliates in Green Bay, Wis., and Marquette, Mich., is retiring upon the completion of the sale of the stations this summer to Nexstar Broadcasting. Nexstar announced it was buying the stations from Liberty Media last month for $20 million.

Perry Kidder will not be going to work for Nexstar Broadcasting.

Six weeks after Nexstar announced that it was buying WFRV Green Bay, Wis., and WJMN Marquette, Mich., from Liberty Media for $20 million, Kidder, the longtime GM of the stations, announced Fricay that he would retire when the deal closes this summer.

Both stations are CBS affiliates.

“After 40 years in the business and 37 with this company, I made this thoughtful decision to retire,” Kidder said in a statement. “I am particularly gratified and honored to have worked with the talented and wonderful people at Channel 5 and Channel 3.

“I formed lasting relationships that will carry forward the rest of my life. I am excited to focus more of my time on the local boards I serve on and with my family, especially our four grandkids.”

Kidder has been with the stations since 1974, holding numerous sales and sales management positions until being named VP and GM in 1993. In 2007, he was promoted to president and GM.

Perry is one of the great guys in this business. He gave a lot back to his community and made WFRV a station that his employees could be proud to work for in Green Bay. Enjoy the fishing, the relaxing and your grand kids.
