NBCU’s ‘Trisha’ Cleared In 75% Of U.S.

The new conflict resolution talker adds major markets to the 27 midsize ones it locked in last year as it moves toward a fall syndication debut.

NBCUniversal’s daytime talk show Trisha with U.K. talk show host Trisha Goddard is moving forward.

NBC is expected to announce today or tomorrow that the show has landed clearances on stations reaching nearly 75% of TV homes, including in major markets, for its fall 2012 debut in broadcast syndication, according to people familiar with these negotiations.

Trisha, which is being sold on a cash-plus-barter basis (11 local minutes, 4 national), is a conflict resolution show. Unlike NBC shows Maury, Steve Wilkos and Jerry Springer, most Trisha episodes will end with guests having resolved their conflicts. Trisha will tape in Maury’s Connecticut studios.

In October, Sinclair Broadcast Group picked up the show in its 27 mostly midsize markets. Since then, NBC has been locking down clearances.

Just last week at the NATPE conference in Miami Beach, Fla., Trisha Goddard was noticeably absent, which seemed to suggest the show was not moving forward. The other four daytime shows launching this fall had a presence, including appearances by the hosts of NBC’s Steve Harvey, Disney-ABC’s Katie and Twentieth Television’s Ricki. CBS Television Distribution was there, but Jeff Probst was out of town directing a movie.
