Jerome Parra Named KXTV News Director

Jerome Parra, a veteran Gannett news manager, has been named news director at the company’s ABC affiliate KXTV Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), effective May 14. He succeeds Tim Geraghty, who left the station last month.

Parra is currently assistant news director at KPNX Phoenix.

Along with his current position as assistant news director at KPNX, Parra was instrumental recently in integrating the information centers of Gannett’s Phoenix news group, including the newspaper, the television station and their shared website.

Prior to that, he was news director and later station manager at KNAZ Flagstaff, Ariz. Parra also worked as assignment editor at Phoenix television stations from 1994 to 2000.  Parra started his television news career as a writer and assignment editor at KXTV Sacramento in 1990.

Parra holds a bachelor’s degree in government journalism from California State University, Sacramento.
