WDRB Louisville In Services Deal For WBKI

The Block Communications station will provide technical, master control sales, promotion, accounting and HR for LM Communications’ newly-purchased CW affiliate in Kentucky.

Lexington-based LM Communications Television, the purchaser of Louisville CW affiliate WBKI, today announced that it has entered into shared service agreements with WDRB Louisville. Under the terms of those agreements, WDRB will provide sales, promotion, accounting and HR services to assist LM Communications Television with its operation of WBKI.

WDRB will also supply technical assistance with master control operations and engineering for WBKI.

LM Communications Television is owned by long-time radio entrepreneur Lynn Martin.

Martin said: “Last week, I was excited to announce my agreement to acquire my first television station after a long and healthy career in radio broadcasting. But now I’m even more thrilled to be partnering with such a respected operation as WDRB- TV. The impressive growth and development of both WDRB and WMYO under the guidance of Bill Lamb is well-documented, and I have every expectation he and his staff are the right people to help LM Communications Television create a similar success story at WBKI.”

“I worked for Lynn Martin 37 years ago and I am honored to be able to work with him again. He is a first-class broadcaster,” said Bill Lamb, president-GM of WDRB-WMYO.

The purchase is subject to FCC approval, but LM Communications Television has commenced a local marketing agreement with the current owner, Louisville TV Group.  The services agreements with WDRB will begin immediately.
