CBS Philly Duo Raises $1 Million+ For Charity

Co-owned KYW-WPSG’s 14-hour phone fundraiser benefits local Ronald McDonald House Charities.

CBS-owned KYW (CBS)-WPSG (CW) Philadelphia’s 14-hour on-air phone bank for a local charity raised more than $1 million yesterday, $1,003,313 to be exact. The fundraising segments aired in newscasts, in commercial break time and in one-hour specials at 9 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both stations.

All funds raised through the phone bank will directly benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region, a nonprofit organization that creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children in our community.

Anchors Susan Barnett, Pat Ciarrocchi, Chris May, Kathy Orr, Erika von Tiehl and Ukee Washington hosted the event with special appearances by on-air personalities from the CBS Radio-owned stations in Philadelphia including Ross Brittain, Valerie Knight and Frank Lewis of WOGL-FM, Chris Stigall from WPHT-AM, Ike Reese of WIP-FM and Cherri Gregg of KYW-AM.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities Phone Bank was presented by Capital One 360, ConEdison Solutions and Tri State Toyota Dealers Association and sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, Coca-Cola, Nemour/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Ravitz Shoprite, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s.
