Fox Makes Exec Moves At WWOR, WNYW

Dianne Doctor on Monday was named vice president and station manager of Fox-owned MNT affiliate WWOR Secaucus, N.J. (New York). In this newly created position, she will be responsible for overseeing all content and programming for the station and will report to Lew Leone, WWOR VP-GM.

Most recently, Doctor was VP-news director of Fox’s other station in the New York market, WNYW. She is being succeeded in that position by Byron Harmon.

Earlier in her career, Doctor was SVP-news director at WCBS New York. Before that, she was VP-news director at WNBC there. Prior to joining WNYW in April of 2008, Doctor founded a production company that developed the New Jersey-targeted Website and e-newsletter, NJMyWay.com, reporting on businesses, people and destinations in New Jersey.  She served as a political and general assignment reporter for New Jersey’s state-wide broadcast network, NJN, covering the statehouse and statewide issues for the Trenton-based program, NJ Nightly News. Doctor began her career as a producer and reporter for WIXT Syracuse, N.Y.

Doctor holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Smith College and a Master of Science in telecommunications/film from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She has served as an assistant professor in broadcast journalism at Montclair State University.

As VP-news director, Byron Harmon will be responsible for overseeing all editorial, business and administrative functions for Fox O&O WNYW. Most recently, Harmon was the station’s senior executive producer. Previously, he was senior executive producer of programming for CNN International. Prior to that, he was an executive producer for WCBS New York.

Earlier, he was an executive producer for the Fox Washington O&O WTTG. He has held a variety of producing positions at stations across the country, including WNBC New York; WBAL Baltimore; KJRH Tulsa, Okla.; and WBRZ Baton Rouge, La.

Before his career in television, Harmon served as a forward observer/scout for the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Kuwaiti Medal of Freedom.

Harmon studied print journalism at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
