ABC O&Os Back TVB On Live+Same Day

The ABC Owned Television Stations Group today endorsed TVB research that local live-plus-same-day ratings data is the most representative of the national C3 ratings.

“As television viewing changes and viewers watch not only live, but also on a near-live basis and on many different types of devices, it’s critical that measurement completely and accurately capture that tuning for our clients,” said Rebecca Campbell, president of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group. “Live+same day is the metric most consistent with the national C3 model. We also believe our advertisers gain real and significant value beyond same day viewing.”

The ABC Owned Stations Group is composed of eight TV stations and their digital assets in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno. The group also includes ABC National Television Sales, a sales representation unit serving the owned stations as well as outside clients; The Live Well Network, a broadcast, online and wireless programming service for emerging digital channels in local markets; and the hit syndicated series Live with Kelly and Michael, which is produced at WABC New York as well as On The Red Carpet, a syndicated weekly half hour entertainment show produced at KABC Los Angeles.

The NBC stations are the second group to throw its support behind TVB. Earlier, this month the NBC Owned Television Stations also came out in favor of the group’s position.
