WVIT Hartford Names Matt Piacente News VP

He joins the NBC-owned outlet in Connecticut from co-owned WMAQ Chicago.

NBC-owned WVIT Hartford, Conn. (DMA 30), on Monday named Matt Piacente VP of news. He joins the station from NBC’s WMAQ Chicago.

For the past 15 years, Piacente has been a newsroom leader at WMAQ in several roles, including executive producer of news and special projects and his most recent post as manager of news and content development. In addition, he has held key producer positions at Chicago’s WLS, WGN and CLTV.

Piacente, replaces Mike St. Peter who recently was named general manager of New England Cable News, also owned by NBCUniversal. 

Piacente begins at WVIT on Monday, Feb. 10.
