Erika Tarantal Joins WCVB Boston News

Erika Tarantal has joined Hearst-owned ABC affiliate WCVB Boston (DMA 7) as an anchor and reporter.

Tarantal will be seen on EyeOpener (weekdays, 4:30-7 a.m.) and will take over the anchor desk during the news at noon when longtime anchor Susan Wornick retires at the end of the month.

Tarantal comes to WCVB from WNBC New York, where she anchored the weekend newscast and also was a primary fill-in co-anchor for WNBC’s weekday morning newscast, Today in New York.

Tarantal joined WNBC as a general assignment reporter in December 2007.  Prior to that, she was a general assignment reporter at WVIT Hartford, Conn., beginning in October 2005.

Before that, Tarantal rose through the ranks at News 12 in the Bronx where she started as a general assignment reporter before being promoted to anchor of the station’s weekday morning newscast.

Tarantal also served as a production assistant at WHDH Boston.  Before beginning her career in broadcasting, Tarantal was a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston.

Tarantal graduated from Connecticut College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in government.
