Nexstar To Air Senate Debate In Iowa

Nexstar Broadcasting Group’ three television stations in Iowa will provide that state’s voters broadcast coverage of the one-hour debate between U.S. Senate candidates Joni Ernst (R) and current U.S. Representative Bruce Braley (D) on Oct. 16.

Ernst and Braley are competing for the Iowa Senate seat that will be left vacant when long-time Senator Tom Harkin (D) retires after this term.

The debate, which takes place in the Eppley Auditorium of Morningside College in Sioux City, will be conducted as a roundtable discussion before a live audience at 7 p.m. It will be carried live on Nexstar’s ABC affiliates, KCAU Sioux City and WOI Des Moines. A replay of the debate will air Sunday, Oct. 19, beginning at 7 a.m. on the company’s CBS affiliate WHBF Quad Cities, Iowa-Rock Island, Ill.

Nexstar has partnered with the ABC Cedar Rapids affiliate, KCRG, to deliver state-wide live debate coverage and commentary. The debate will be moderated by local Iowa Nexstar political journalists Tim Seaman of KCAU and Amanda Krenz of WOI.
