Fox News Series Focuses On Wild West Legends

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Fox News Channel is dipping in to the nonfiction series realm by telling stories of Wild West legends like Jesse James, David Crockett and Billy the Kid.

The network’s 10-episode series, “Legends & Lies: Into the West,” will debut with two episodes on Sunday, April 12. Fox anchor Bill O’Reilly, who has built a successful literary career with books on the deaths of John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and Jesus Christ, will be the executive producer and appear in each episode.

Warm Spring Productions, which makes “Mountain Men” for History and “Log Cabin Living” for HGTV, will make the new series.

News networks, particularly CNN, have been moving aggressively into the non-fiction realm because they’re not dependent on news events to succeed and can be repeated frequently. “Legends & Lies” episodes will air three times during a weekend.
