Nexstar Names Denise McManus KASW GM

The station group’s latest acquisition, Phoenix’s CW affiliate brings in the former sales VP from Telemundo’s Arizona stations.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group has appointed Denise McManus VP-general manager of CW affiliate KASW Phoenix (DMA 11) and the station’s associated digital operations.

Her appointment is effective immediately, and she will report to Brian Jones, Nexstar Broadcasting co-COO. Nexstar agreed to acquire KASW in October 2014 from Meredith Corp. for $68 million and the acquisition closed on Jan. 30.

Denise McManus has more than 15 years of broadcast television and advertising experience with expertise in local and national marketing, new business development and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Nexstar, she was VP of sales for Comcast NBCUniversal’s Telemundo stations KTAZ Phoenix and KHRR Tucson, Ariz.

Before relocating to Phoenix in 2012, McManus was director of sales for Comcast where she was responsible for the advertising sales division of the CN8 Network. Prior to that, she was a senior account executive at WCAU Philadelphia.

She began her broadcasting career in 1988 with Fox Broadcasting, first as an account executive at WJBK Detroit, and then at WFLD Chicago before ascending to the role of national sales manager of WJBK.

McManus attended the University of Michigan. In 2012, she was selected to participate in the Leadership Essentials Executive Training program through NBCUniversal.
