Nearly 17 Million Watch Jenner Interview

Nielsen said 16.9 million people watched Friday's 20/20 interview with Bruce Jenner in which the former Olympian told ABC's Diane Sawyer about his transition into becoming a woman. Nielsen Social also estimated that there were 972,000 tweets sent Friday night about the Jenner interview.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former Olympian Bruce Jenner reached an audience of just under 17 million people for his declaration in an ABC News interview that he identifies as a woman.

The Nielsen company said Saturday 16.9 million viewers watched the interview on ABC’s “20/20” newscast Friday night.

The audience was the biggest for a non-sports show on a Friday night since 2003, which would exclude Olympics broadcasts. Friday is generally a light night for television viewing because so many people have plans outside the house.

It was also the biggest audience for ABC’s “20/20” newscast on a Friday night in 15 years. Nielsen said viewership peaked just after 10 p.m. with 17.2 million viewers.

Nielsen Social also estimated that there were 972,000 tweets sent Friday night about the Jenner interview.

Shows how out of it you and @Flashflood are, as @Flashflood commented when announced that it was 2 people no one cared about and I pointed out this would demonstrate how off base he was as I would gladly post the huge ratings once the show aired so he could see how wrong he was. It was also the best 20/20 had done since a John and Patsy Ramsey interview pulled in 19.6 million viewers and a rating of 6.9/21 in March of 2000. It was the biggest Friday night for ABC since 2004. Among the 18-49 demo it was the best any network has done on a non-sports Friday since April 4, 2003.

Well, well, well. here we go again. Insider and his dumb*** comments. Sure, that POS show attracted 17 million people. That leaves over 303 million people, including me, who DID NOT WATCH IT! Some people did Dinner and a Movie, some went shopping, some went to ballgames, some work at night, some went to social events/parties, some went to bars to drink, and some stayed home and watched channels OTHER THAN ABC on Friday Night. Insider needs to get himself a REAL life!
