WNEU will begin airing local news at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. starting Monday, the first time ever for the Spanish-language station. The addition of the newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo Boston, is the latest in a series of efforts to bolster local news at Telemundo stations across the country.

Telemundo Boston Launching Local News
WNEU, the Telemundo station in Boston, will air its first-ever live local newscasts – Noticiero Telemundo Boston – starting Monday, the group announced this morning. The Spanish-language station will air live, half-hour newscasts on weeknights at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m..
José A. Rivera Adrovet will anchor the newscasts. He comes to Boston from Univision Tampa Bay, where he has anchored the station’s daily afternoon and late newscasts for the last two years.
“We are ecstatic that Telemundo Boston will debut its first-ever live and locally produced weekday newscasts to help fill the void for Spanish-language viewers that has existed in our market for far too long,” station SVP/GM Mike St. Peter says in a statement.
The newscasts will share facilities with NECN, the 24-hour regional news network. They will air from a state-of-the-art newsroom and news set featuring the latest technologies, the company says. The broadcasts will also feature on-screen graphics and visuals that complement the station’s digital properties.
WNEU’s local news launch is the latest in a series of efforts to boost local news at Telemundo-owned stations around the country.

I applaud the move, but the Boston news mkt is a very tough walnut !!!!
WBIN the only tue Indy left in Boston will attest to that. NBC seems to have a lot cash to throw around !!!
They would be better served doing a Hispanic news wheel & putting it on their dot two !!!
At 11 pm many working Hispanics are in bed, there at work by 5 or 6 am ish & they do not have time for apt news

As a former TLMD/NBC employee all I have to say is good luck. However, the newscast should be streamed and avail for 24 hrs. As Catskills pointed out, many of the Hispanics are in bed early due to having to be up before dawn and to catch local transportation and many don’t get till home late. Then collapse. But having the ability to stream on their phone local news. Most Hispanics really want to know what is occurring in THEIR neighborhoods. Most are home owners and hard workers bettering their lives. They have the interests and want to be informed.
