Media General, ABC Sign New Affiliation Deal

The agreement covers 12 stations and more than six million TV households and runs until 2021. 

Media General today announced a comprehensive, long-term agreement with ABC Television Network, renewing its existing affiliations. The agreement synchronizes Media General’s expanded ABC television station portfolio under a common, long-term affiliation agreement that expires in 2021.

“ABC has been a great partner over the years and we are pleased to extend our relationship,” said Vincent L. Sadusky, Media General president-CEO. “This agreement enables us to continue providing more than six million television households in 12 markets nationwide with high-quality network programming that complements our strong local news and unique local content.”

“Media General is one of our larger affiliate groups and this long-term, comprehensive agreement assures that the value of our mutually beneficial relationship is fully recognized,” said John Rouse, SVP of affiliate relations for the ABC Television Network. “We look forward to many more years of collaboration with Media General in these important local markets, and much success as our new season of programming launches over the next few weeks.”

The agreement includes renewals for the following affiliates: WTNH Hartford-New Haven, Conn.; WKRN Nashville; WOTV Grand Rapids, Mich.; WHTM Harrisburg, Pa.; WRIC Richmond, Va.; WTEN Albany, N.Y.; WATE Knoxville, Tenn.; WBAY Green Bay, Wis.; WJBF Augusta, Ga.; WLAJ Lansing, Mich.; WYTV Youngstown, Ohio; and KTKA Topeka, Kan.
