WEVV Resolves Dish Network Retrans Suit
Bruse Loyd, attorney for Bayou City Broadcasting, announced today that the lawsuit he filed against dish Network on behalf of BCBE and its CBS affiliate WEVV Evansville, Ind., on Aug. 31 in a Colorado federal court alleging underpayment of retransmission fees has been resolved with the full amount owed to BCBE being paid, plus interest.
Terms required that the payment be funded prior to dismissal, Loyd said. The lawsuit accused Dish Network of knowingly and improperly prorating retransmission fees in order to shortchange BCBE significant contractly owed revenues.
“This was an open-and-shut matter from the beginning. There is a written agreement between BCBE and Dish that dictates payment terms. It was very clear that Dish unilaterally violated those terms. We are very satisfied with the outcome as well as the expeditious nature of the resolution,” Loyd said in a statement.

Time to end the payment of ReTrans Fees…Local Television is DEAD and it seems everyone knows it but…Local Television…We are a Global Community and Local News is a Joke!

Then let the MVPD drop local channels…..and the 35% of the viewing on their system that goes with them….and see how the MVPD sub numbers hold up.

The only way that retrains fees ends, TV Dinosaur, is to get Congress to REPEAL in its entirety the 1992 Cable/Satellite Act (which Bush 41 vetoed and the U.S. Senate overrode the veto).
