WFLD News Adds Mike Caplan, Scott Schneider

Fox-owned WFLD Chicago (DMA 3) has named Mike Caplan meteorologist on its Good Day Chicago. Effective, Dec. 28, Caplan will join Corey McPherrin, Darlene Hill, Richard Roeper, George Smith and Melody Mendez, weekdays from 4:30 to 10 a.m.

The station has also named Scott Schneider weekend anchor and reporter. Schneider will co-anchor the weekend news alongside Natalie Bomke and report for the weekday Fox 32 News at 9 p.m.

Most recently, Caplan was weather anchor for Chicago’s WLS weekday afternoon newscasts, after previously spending time on its morning show and weekend newscasts.

Prior to that, he anchored both weather and news as chief forecaster for WTVD Raleigh-Durham, N.C. Caplan began his career at WCIA in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., as a weekend and afternoon weather anchor and co-host of the station’s nightly magazine show.

A Chicago native, Caplan graduated from Illinois State University.

Schneider previously was an anchor at WXIX Cincinnati. Prior to that, he was an anchor and reporter at WFMJ Youngstown, Ohio. Schneider began his career as an anchor at WDTV Clarksburg, W.Va.

A graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Schneider received his Bachelor of Science degree in communications.
