Woman Sues Polygamy Reality Show For Trespassing

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah woman who is part of a polygamous group alleges in a lawsuit that makers of a reality TV show barged into her house without permission and pressured her daughter into participating in a series about people leaving polygamy by offering her money.

Susan Nelson alleges in a federal lawsuit that her daughter was offered $5,000 per episode to appear in “Escaping Polygamy,” which airs on A&E network’s LMN channel.

Nelson accuses a cameraman and cast of the show of trespassing at her house in a Salt Lake City suburb in December 2014. Nelson also accuses the show of defaming her in an episode about the events.

The episode aired in July 2015.

Spokespeople for the two companies being sued — A&E Network and RIVR Media — declined comment.
