On Sunday, Evertz released a number of announcements at the NAB Show. They include:

The introduction of OvertureRT LIVE UHD (OVRT-LIVE-UHD), a UHD integrated channel playout product. OVRT- LIVE-UHD has enabled customers to quickly launch UHD (4K) channels with High Dynamic Range (HDR). Evertz UHD with HDR provides the consumer with an immersive experience.

OVRT-LIVE-UHD is the complete UHD integrated channel playout engine. OVRT- LIVE-UHD supports all the elements of traditional master control video and audio transition, internal multichannel playout server, advanced audio processing, and advanced channel branding. For live programming, OVRT-LIVE-UHD supports quad-link 3G-SDI to switch sources into the engine. These sources can be mixed with internally stored content based on an automation playlist.

OVRT-LIVE-UHD, with both Mediator-X and OvertureRT Render-X, enable media companies to deliver UHD content with HDR to linear and non-linear platforms. Evertz delivers the complete UHD experience.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The company is showcasing the EQX10, a 10RU 180×180 10GE Hybrid UHD/3G/HD/SD-SDI router. The EQX10 is part the EQX family of enterprise class routers that has been a mainstay in the industry for many years. The EQX10 platform is a proven solution that is ideal for mission critical and demanding 24/7 environments.

The EQX10 platform unifies the traditional SDI router with Evertz high capacity IP switch fabrics (such as EXE-VSR and 3080IPX) by utilizing IP Media Gateway modules into the router frame. The EQX10 supports IP media gateways for SMPTE 2022-6, ASPEN, RFC 4175, and AES67 on both input and output modules. This enables customers to seamless integrate to Evertz’ Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) 10GE infrastructure for all available sources and destinations of the EQX.

The EQX10 audio handling features are truly unique for a router of its size. Features include: newly integrated audio (ADMX) and video routing crosspoint, audio embedding on either input or output modules (with access to the entire audio core), audio de-embedding on input modules (with DSP), direct routable MADI I/O connections – without reducing the routers total video I/O count. The audio core consists of embedded audio, AES, AA, MADI, Studer A-LINK and Calrec Hydra2 interfaces, AES67 and SMPTE ST 302 — all in a non-blocking and seamlessly expandable architecture.

Coupled with Evertz’ award winning MAGNUM unified control system; the EQX10 is a hybrid SDI-IP, video and integrated audio solution that is the gateway platform to IP and UHD.

Evertz introduced evEDGE the next generation platform for SDVN solutions. Evertz’ evEDGE gives customers additional scalability and flexibility in their IP infrastructure.

The evEDGE is a software-defined compute and routing platform that meets the needs of smaller facilities looking for a cost effective way to migrate to IP, while enabling larger facilities to build using a distributed environment. The evEDGE can operate resiliently in a standalone or core switch environment featuring redundant switch fabric technology with twice the compute, processing, and gateway density. The evEDGE supports bulk processing modules that include: IP media gateways (for formats such as ASPEN, SMPTE-2022-6, NewTek NDI, RFC 4175, and AES67); multi-viewing; and video/audio conversion and processing.

The evEDGE compute blade enables a virtualized environment. The evEDGE compute blade provides customer “on-demand” processes to enable elastic and agile workflows.

Evertz also announced its support for NewTek’s open Network Device Interface format for IP-based production workflows based on its Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) solutions. The support of NDI enables Evertz media gateways and other SDVN products to be recognized by other NDI-enabled devices and systems connected to a standard Ethernet local area network. This exponentially increases the number of video sources available for live production.

By adding NDI support Evertz industry leading SDVN extends the capabilities of IP within live production. This benefits any facility transitioning to IP by taking advantage of a 10 GbE core SDVN system to bridge a large number of NDI- enabled devices, providing scalability and flexibility today and into the future.

This new standard for live production IP workflow is bi-directional and backwards compatible with a large number of devices from top manufacturers that already utilize NewTek’s open standard allowing IP connectivity between devices. Customers using Evertz SDVN will be able to utilize the many products in the NewTek Developer Network, the industry’s largest ecosystem of IP- enabled products using the same standard.
