DMA 93: BATON ROUGE, LA

WBRZ Names Investigative Executive Producer

Manship Family-owned ABC affiliate WBRZ Baton Rouge, La. (DMA 93), has named Mark Phillips as its investigative executive producer, overseeing the station’s team of reporters to uncover and report on political corruption.

For the last 19 years, Phillips has been the deputy managing editor at the KPNX Phoenix.  In addition to working with the investigative team there, he also oversaw the station’s election coverage.

Prior to Phoenix, Phillips was part of the original management team that set up Chicagoland television, a 24-hour cable news channel run by the Tribune Co.

Prior to that he was a reporter at WDSU New Orleans, after getting his start in Alexandria, La.

“Mark’s 38 year career in the television news business speaks for itself,” said WBRZ News Director Lee Polowczuk. “He’s reported on wide-ranging issues in Louisiana and investigated public officials that have earned him prestigious broadcast awards. He’s the perfect fit to complement the mission of the WBRZ Investigative Unit.”
