WPLG Miami Announces 9 A.M. Newscast

Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, WPLG, the ABC affiliate in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (DMA 16), will expand its morning newscast from 4:30 to 10 a.m., providing an additional hour of breaking news, weather and traffic to the weekday news block.

“We will have nonstop morning news beginning Sept. 12,” said WPLG President Bert Medina. “WPLG will have more news, more weather and more traffic reports from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. with local news and the Local 10 News ticker during Good Morning America.”

The addition means WPLG will move Live with Kelly to 10 a.m.

The Local 10 News AT 9 A.M. will be anchored by Eric Yutzy and Jacey Birch, meteorologist Julie Durda and traffic reporter Nicole Perez. 

WPLG’s 9 a.m. news expansion will now bring its news production to a total of 59½ hours a week.
