NBCU, AT&T/DirecTV Renew Distribution Deal

The new multi-year agreement means AT&T DirecTV and U-Verse customers will continue to have access to NBCU broadcast and cable networks live and on-demand through linear TV, online and TV Everywhere apps.

NBCUniversal today reached a long-term agreement with AT&T to extend the NBCU portfolio of networks across all AT&T DirecTV products including DirecTV Now and DirecTV Preview, AT&T’s new streaming services. AT&T expects to launch DirecTV Now in the fourth quarter of this year.

Through the agreement, AT&T DirecTV and U-Verse customers will continue to have access to NBCU broadcast and cable networks live and on-demand through linear TV, online, and TV Everywhere apps.

“AT&T is an important distributor and we are pleased they recognize the value of NBCUniversal’s leading portfolio of networks and will continue offering our unmatched lineup of entertainment, sports, news and Hispanic content,” said Matt Bond, chairman of NBCUniversal content distribution. “We are committed to growing our audiences, and we welcome the opportunity to offer our networks on DirecTV NOW.”

“We’re pleased to extend our relationship with NBCU with this milestone agreement, which delivers their content across all of our platforms and products,” said Dan York, chief content officer for AT&T. “The NBCU family of networks will be available to AT&T customers for years to come and will also enhance our DirecTV Now streaming services and provide more great 4K Ultra High Definition sports content.”

The agreement also enhances DirecTV’s 4K UHD programming initiative, by allowing DirecTV to select major sporting events in 4K. DirecTV has already offered Rio Olympics and is delivering Notre Dame football games in 4K UHD under the agreement.
