Kalodimos Honored For Outstanding Journalism

Thursday night at the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Demetria Kalodimos anchor at Meredith’s NBC affiliate WSMV Nashville (DMA 29) received a surprise. She was asked to emcee the event but little did she know, she would be honored for her years of providing news and information to Middle Tennessee.

Kalodimos is the longest continuous evening news anchor in WSMV history and has consistently been voted a favorite in local reader polls, according to the station. She started at WSMV in 1984 and rose through the ranks as a reporter and anchor.

In addition to anchoring the news, Kalodimos has been recornized for her investigative skills. She has won 15 Emmy Awards, two National Headliner Awards, two Investigative Reporters and Editors National Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting and two National Citations from American Women in Radio and Television.

In 1996 she was named Tennessee Associated Press “Broadcaster of the Year”.

“Demetria is highly regarded by our viewers and her peers.  We are extremely proud of the work she has done,” said Doreen Wade, VP-GM of WSMV. “I’m especially proud of her investigative work that exemplifies Channel 4’s commitment to ‘Working for You’.”
