Zeta with Bluefin
Calrec will unveil the third product to benefit from its Bluefin High Density Signal Processing project with the introduction of Zeta with Bluefin.
Bluefin equips Calrec’s smallest digital console with 160 mono DSP paths packaged as 48 stereo plus 64 mono channels, allowing up to 24 x full 5.1 surround channels. New features include 8 x 5.1 surround, stereo, or mono audio groups, 20 auxiliary outputs, which can be 20 mono or 10 stereo, and 48 outputs for multitrack or general purpose feeds. The addition of Bluefin technology also introduces Calrec’s Surround Spill panel for independent leg adjustment of 5.1 channels.
Bluefin incorporates 19.6 minutes of audio delay divided into 432 mono legs of up to 2.73 seconds each. It allows channel input delay to be assigned to group and main outputs to achieve the desired compensation.
Zeta with Bluefin is available in three frame sizes 24, 32, and 48 faders and has 2 main stereo or 5.1 surround outputs with full equalization and compressor/limiter facilities.
New Range of I/O Boxes
New remote I/O boxes compliment Calrec’s existing modular remote I/O box. These fixed-format boxes range from 2RU to 4RU in size and all have built-in PSU redundancy with single or optional dual IEC power connections. The AD5603 is a 2RU analog I/O unit, and the JB5607 is a 3RU unbalanced AES I/O unit. The AD5603 consists of 24 mic/line inputs and 8 line outputs with phantom power indication on mic inputs and a tri-color signal LED indicating whether audio is present, normal, or at clip for each input. The JB5607 consists of 32 AES inputs and 32 AES outputs on BNC connectors. The AES unit is also available as a 110-Ohm XLR-based 4RU variant.
The boxes interface to the Calrec Hydra Network using dual Cat5e gigabit Ethernet ports for audio and control redundancy up to 90m. For extended distances, the new I/O boxes also support optional duplex fiber GBIC connectors, which allow multimode fiber 50/125um or 62.5/125um operation up to 500m or single mode fiber 9/125um operation up to 5km.
Each mic box also has an optional expansion port at the rear for GPIO, communications, and serial interfaces.
